AquaKler AquaKler™
is an innovative and environmentally safe way to add oxygen to a pond or lake
without the use of mechanical equipment. While aeration and bottom mounted diffuser
will create circulation and aerate at extremely high efficiencies, there are specialized
applications where it is desirable to raise oxygen levels quickly or without using
machines, grid-power or other mechanical systems. AquaKler™ is another tool not
only for aquatic specialists in the field of aquaculture production or municipal
waterways management but also for private applications like golf course pond maintenance.
A single application of AquaKler can literally double dissolved oxygen levels
in water in only a few hours.
AquaKler™ comes as a dry powder which is
composed of a stabilized peroxygen formulated into time-released granules that,
when applied to a body of water, rapidly descend to the bottom and immediately
begin releasing a steady discharge of dissolved oxygen. This slow oxygen release
happens continuously over a very extended time period. Application of AquaKler™
is generally on a monthly schedule. We can help with dosages for specific projects
or applications: call 450-243-0976 or email us.
Typical
application scenarios include: • Emergency restoration of oxygen
levels in aquatic systems • Year round aerating of cold water fish habitats
when destratification is undesired • Supplementing traditional aeration systems
with emergency oxygen during critical/unforeseen events • Pre-winter applications
prior to pond freeze over when aeration systems are typically turned-off •
Aquaculture and shrimp production to boost occasional oxygen sag and as a pollutant
oxidizer • Reducing phosphorus levels are too high and need to be reduced
in the water column • Spring "boost" of pond oxygen levels to assist
beneficial bacteria prior to aerator restart • Prevention of fish kills whenever
oxygen conditions are temporarily low in the pond • Improve performance of
Bacterius cultures to reduce muck, smells, BOD and high phosphorus •
Wherever low oxygen conditions need to be addressed quickly and inexpensively
• When standard aeration systems are not feasible due to location, lack of
power, etc. • When aeration is desired but still surface waters (no movement
from bottom diffusers) is critical • Aerating golf course ponds inexpensively
to help reduce algae and muck With only one application will immobilize
phosphorus and raise oxygen levels for several weeks to several months depending
on local conditions. AquaKler™ raises the dissolved oxygen level and reduces phosphorus
in the cold, deep waters of a thermally stratified water body without destratifying
the water body or breaking the thermocline. This unique aerating action is an
exciting new and significant aeration solution for aquatic professionals and those
in more private management projects.
Clinical documentation
of oxygenation using AquaKler The rate of generation of gaseous
oxygen is influenced by the physical and chemical properties of the surrounding
medium such as pH, temperature and turbulence. In pure water, at room temperature,
oxygen generation can continue for more than six months. The following table gives
an indication of the oxygen release profile of Aquakler in water. Dissolved oxygen
at day zero was 7 ppm and within half a day oxygen was measured at 15 PPM Within
3 days oxygen levels nearly tripled.
| Days | 0 | 0.5 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 10 | 14 | 17 | 21 | 24 | 31 | 45 | 70 | | Dissolved
Oxygen (PPM) | 7 | 15 | 18.6 | 18.9 | 20 | 20 | 19.3 | 18.4 | 15.1 | 12.6 | 12.7 | 10.6 | 7.1 | 7.5 |
This profile represents AquaKler in water without agitation in a laboratory
container at room temperature. The container was covered the first 14 days and
then it was left open for the remainder of the testing period. Dissolved oxygen
was monitored using a Solinst Levelogger equipment.

for pricing and application rate recommendations and strategies. Because AquaKler™
is an extremely powerful oxidizer it needs to be handled and applied correctly.
